Billings Studio Theatre Presents THE 39 STEPS, 10/12

Billings Studio Theatre presents THE 39 STEPS, adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the novel by John Buchan and the movie of Alfred Hitchcock, licensed by ITV Global Entertainment Limited, and an original concept by Nobby Dimon and Simon Corble.  39 STEPS is directed by A.J. Kalanick.

The cast includes: Richard Hannay Jayme Green, Annabella/ Margaret/ Pamela Casidee, Corcoran, The Clowns Schad Scott, and Colin McRae.

Take a chicken, a fish, a parade, a plane crash, dancing girls, dirty cops, secret spies and only 4 actors and what do you have? 39, (or more), reasons to love Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps. Winner of 2 tony and Drama Desk awards, The 39 Steps is where Hitchcock meets Hilarious. It is an engaging, fast-paced whodunit that celebrates the magic of theater. Closely following the storyline of Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 film, the play features more that 150 characters brought to life by a cast of just four actors.

The 39 Steps runs October 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 2012; Thursday, Friday & Saturday 7:30 PM and Sunday Matinee 2:00 PM.

Billings Studio Theatre originated as a Sunday evening play-reading group in the homes of passionate early members. As membership in the fledgling theater group grew, donations of space by Eastern Montana College and YWCA allowed the group to become a firmly established part of the community. As time passed, the group expanded to producing plays on radio and on stage and conducting workshops in radio production, makeup, accents and other phases of the theatre.

The first play presented was "There's Always Juliet" in September of 1953. In the 50's and early 60's plays where presented at Eastern Montana College (now MSU-B) and Rocky Mountain College.

In 1963 the group decided that Billings Studio Theatre needed a home and remodeled a church in downtown Billings. In 1968 the church building was condemned and fund raising efforts began to build Billings Studio Theatre a permanent home.

February of 1971 construction began on BST's current home at 1500 Rimrock Road. Construction was completed in the fall of the same year and the first production in the new facility was "Man of LaMancha" in November.

Billings Studio Theatre embarks on it's 53rd year.
